About the creators of Skokie: A Community History Using Old Maps

This booklet was compiled by David Buisseret (The Hermon Dunlap Smith Center for the History of Cartography, The Newberry Library) and Gerald Danzer (Department of History, The University of Illinois at Chicago), with help from Rosemary Schmitt and Joseph Beaver of the Skokie Historical Society.

It is a joint publication of the Chicago Neighborhood History Project, the Skokie Historical Society and the Newberry Library. The Chicago Neighborhood History Project is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities; The Skokie Historical Society gratefully acknowledges support from Rand, McNally and Company, from the First National Bank of Skokie, and from the Fel-Pro Mecklenburger Fund.

The material here presented in booklet form has also been used (in a different form) in the teaching programs of schools collaborating in the Chicago Neighborhood History Project. A teachers' guide was also prepared for the purposes of these programs, and may be purchased from the Skokie Historical Society. All the photographs which accompany the cartographic material are from the collections of the Skokie Historical Society.

The print edition of Skokie: A Community History Using Old Maps was originally published in 1985.

The Chicago Neighborhood History Project is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities through the Skokie Public Library.
