The Illinois Senate Fair Housing Bill, 1966-1967
On April 11, 1967, Donald P. Perille of the Skokie Human Relations Commission gave a statement to the Illinois Senate Committee on Registration and Miscellany. In the statement, Perille argues passionately for the adoption of fair housing legislation at the state level, and his contribution to the fight for equal housing was recognized and applauded among many Skokie residents, who wrote to Perille in the months following. The previous year, Perille received recognition from U.S. congressman Donald Rumsfeld for his work with the Skokie Human Relations Commission.
