Reproduction of a portion of a map depicting the eastern shore of Lake Michigan north of Chicago including the townships of New Trier, Niles, Ridgeville, Jefferson, and North Chicago made by James H. Rees. Area covered includes portions of Northfield and New Trier Townships, to the north, all of Niles, Jefferson, Ridgeville, and North Chicago Townships, and portions of Union and Railroad Townships and the City of Chicago to the south. The map provide population numbers, river names, and landmarks. The original map is from page 27, "Map of the Counties of Cook and DuPage, the east part of Kane and Kendall, the north part of Will, state of Illinois" published by Ferd. Mayer and Company in Chicago in 1851. A better, full-color reproduction of this map from the digital collections of the Library of Congress.
