The original map is from page 27, "Illinois," of A New General Atlas Comprising a Complete Set of Maps, representing the Grand Divisions Of The Globe..., Published by Anthony Finley in 1831. A better, full-color reproduction of this map is available in the David Rumsey Map Collection online. Labeled areas include: Winnebago Indians [territory], Lake Michigan, Indian Villages, Chicago canal, Chicago, Ft. Dearborn, Proposed canal Mount Juliet, River Des Plaines, Ottowa Indians [territory], La Page River, Fox River, Juliet River, Little Calamick River, Pickamink River, Kankakee River, and Great Calamick River.
