Description
Handwritten note on 4 x 6 index card in pencil to 20-year old Ahiri from 13-year old Ahiri for the Skokie Public Library Solar Eclipse Party Time Capsule. Just after noon on Monday, August 21, 2017, the Skokie, Illinois community joined others across the United States in viewing the astronomical event of the year: the solar eclipse. The library provided 300 free, safe viewing glasses for participants—a number dwarfed by the 1,123 people who ultimately participated. Participants were invited to write notes for watchers of the next solar eclipse to take place in the continental United States on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Transcript of card: “Dear 20 year old Ahiri, I hope you made it into UCLA and are in med school. I hope you have better handwriting. Remember your love of Harry Potter and never let it go. Also remember to keep loving the Beatles. – 13 year old Ahiri, the Gryffindor”
