Title

Handwritten note by a random person, Skokie Public Library Solar Eclipse Party Time Capsule, August 21, 2017

Description

Handwritten note on 4 x 6 index card in pencil by a random person for the Skokie Public Library Solar Eclipse Party Time Capsule. Just after noon on Monday, August 21, 2017, the Skokie, Illinois community joined others across the United States in viewing the astronomical event of the year: the solar eclipse. The library provided 300 free, safe viewing glasses for participants—a number dwarfed by the 1,123 people who ultimately participated. Participants were invited to write notes for watchers of the next solar eclipse to take place in the continental United States on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Transcript of card: “The solar eclipse was cool to experience you may not be able to see it again. For your safety make sure you wear the special glasses or you will damage your eyes. – A random person <3”
