Title
Handwritten note by April, Skokie Public Library Solar Eclipse Party Time Capsule, August 21, 2017
Description
Handwritten note on 4 x 6 index card in pencil written to future April from past April for the Skokie Public Library Solar Eclipse Party Time Capsule. Just after noon on Monday, August 21, 2017, the Skokie, Illinois community joined others across the United States in viewing the astronomical event of the year: the solar eclipse. The library provided 300 free, safe viewing glasses for participants—a number dwarfed by the 1,123 people who ultimately participated. Participants were invited to write notes for watchers of the next solar eclipse to take place in the continental United States on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Transcript of card: “Dear Future April, are you in U. of I.? I guess not cause you're not that smart. Um, do you remember the dab? Are you still obsessed with pandas? Is your handwriting neater? Bai! – Past April”
