Niles Center Before World War I
From 1880 to the 1920s, the first Tuesday and third Thursday of each month were "market days" in Niles Center, held at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and what is now known as Oakton Street.
Farmers sold produce and livestock raised on the family farms that dotted the land surrounding the town center. Additionally, there were several successful wholesale flower growers who had greenhouses in Niles Center.
